Initial situation: The REDDCRYPT Outlook Addin cannot be started after installation or an update. Outlook may report that the REDDCRYPT Addin has been deactivated.

Info: The reason for the behavior is the Add In Resiliency of Outlook, which has been available since Office 2013 and deactivates the Add Ins if Outlook is too slow.

Solution: The following steps are necessary to bypass the Add In Resiliency function:

  1. Outlook Close
  2. Start Regedit
  3. In the path HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\xx.x\Outlook\Resiliency\DisabledItems delete all entries
xx.x refers to the Office version number and must be adjusted accordingly.
ATTENTION: ALL currently deactivated addins are reactivated at startup (but this is necessary for the time being, as the values deactivated there do not clearly refer to an addin).
  4. Create a new DWORD entry with the name ReddCryptAddin.AddinModule and the value 1 in the following path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\xx.x\Outlook\Resiliency\DoNotDisableAddinList
xx.x refers to the Office version number and must be adjusted accordingly
  5. Start Outlook and deactivate the add-ins that you want to have deactivated (so that the DisabledItems list from point 3 is as desired again).

Regfix for download

Subsequent regfix files could also solve the problem (please ask your IT department to make changes to the registry with caution).

Please make sure that the latest updates for Outlook are installed (File => Oficce Account => Office Updates).
